Treatments
Root canal care
Relieve tooth pain and keep your natural tooth whenever it can be saved.
Overview
Root canal treatment removes inflamed or infected tissue from inside a tooth, cleans and shapes the canals and seals them to protect the tooth.
It is usually done under local anaesthesia. The aim is to relieve pain and avoid extraction, and the tooth is often protected afterwards with a crown.

- 3
Sealing and protecting
The canals are sealed, and the tooth is restored or crowned to protect it.
Common questions
The treatment is done under local anaesthesia so you should feel comfortable. Mild soreness afterwards is common and usually settles in a few days.
Not always. If a tooth is too damaged to be restored, your dentist will explain the alternatives.
This page is general information. Suitability, duration and outcomes depend on a clinical examination and vary between patients.
